ADHD - Awesome AI Help - ADHD Optimist

G’day,

I struggled with undiagnosed ADHD for forty-six years, feeling like I didn't fit in anywhere.

Since my ADHD diagnosis, I have spent the past twenty-six years reading, researching and testing every aspect of adult ADHD with the desire to become the very best version of myself.

Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way….

Awesome AI Help… Read in 3 Minutes

I wanted to learn about LinkedIn and I am a complete novice with this platform. My ability to research is okay, but I have a mind that can get lost in the details and not implement the required actions to get the benefit of the time spend doing the research.

I have been using Claude AI for about six weeks and decided to see if it can help me be more time efficient and to reduce the information overload and provide the important, actionable information in an ADHD friendly way.

I started by asking Claude for a select of books from Amazon that could help. I selected

LinkedIn for Personal Branding: The Ultimate Guide by Sandra Long.

I got the kindle version, because it’s a instant download and I can highlight the bits that are important to me and what I want to achieve.

Now I am assuming Sandra is neurotypical and my ADHD brain found the information well layout and very interesting but with my poor memory retention, a bit confusing and overwhelming. This is my challenge, not the authors.

So, I skim read the book and highlight the relevant text, then get Amazon to send the highlighted text in a PDF to my email address.

Normally I would edit the PDF myself but that takes a fair bit of time, so I got Claude to delete unnecessary text and reformat it into a word doc. After three attempts it was done.

The book has 245 pages, my highlighted emailed version has 30 pages - 8,002 words, the Claude revised version has 17 pages - 6,863 words.

Still too much information for my brain to deal with, so I asked Claude to edit it to only include the steps and actions the author recommends.

We end up with 4 pages - 1,211 words.

This whole process took about 45 minutes, excluding skim reading the book. Next time I will get Claude to skim read the book and see how that works out.

I keep a copy of the 17 page version for reference if needed. Now it may not be perfect, but it saved me a lot of time and angst.

Also gives a flexible structure and makes it easier to start my LinkedIn journey - awesome.

You can download the 17 page version and the final 4 page one, cheers.

The question is how can AI make your life a bit better and easier?

“I want to extend my deepest thanks to Jim Livingstone for his incredible books for adults living with ADHD.

I’m 46 years old and was diagnosed just 12 months ago.

For most of my life, I never understood why my mind was always racing, why I struggled to maintain relationships, or why I kept turning to substances in search of happiness.

Reading Livingstone's books brought everything into perspective. It helped me see that ADHD isn’t just a challenge—it can be a powerful ally. Through his insights and guidance, I’ve found clarity. I’m sober, I’m grounded, and for the first time, I’m truly happy with who I am. I feel engaged in my life, and I’m living with purpose and direction.

I’m so grateful for this transformation. Thank you”. - James Ellis
