ADHD and CONTROL

Hello, and Welcome

G’day,

I struggled with undiagnosed ADHD for forty-six years, feeling like I didn't fit in anywhere.

Since my ADHD diagnosis, I have spent the past twenty-six years reading, researching and testing every aspect of adult ADHD with the desire to become the very best version of myself.

Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way….

ADHD and CONTROL

The biggest issue for me has been and still is controlling my thoughts.

Our ADHD brains have a massive amount of thoughts every day and night. It can be both exciting and destructive. A single thought can exhaust or motivate you.

The negative thoughts that pop up affect your emotions, impacting your motivation and ability to take action. It is a constant battle to override the negative and can sometimes be exhausting.

If you don’t manage your thoughts, you leave yourself open to mood swings, manipulation, and impulsive reactions. You can’t trust your brain. It can’t see or hear or experience anything directly. It relies on signals from your senses and beliefs but is often mistaken.

If you want to feel different, you have to think different thoughts.

Control your thoughts or be controlled by them.

Take the challenge below.

10 - 30 - 100 Day Challenge

Personal challenges help create a clear objective to work towards, increasing your motivation and concentration.

Challenges often require you to learn new things.

The satisfaction from achieving a challenge can be deeply fulfilling. Completing a savings goal, such as saving for a vacation or a significant purchase, can give you a strong sense of control.

Creative challenges stimulate your mind and enhance your problem-solving skills.

Control Your Thoughts Challenge:

  • Track your feelings and thoughts for a period of time.

  • Record the number of positive and negative thoughts.

  • Reframe negative thoughts into positive, empowering ones.

  • Challenge limiting beliefs behind the negative thoughts.

  • Cultivate an optimistic and growth mindset.

  • Ask, what can I learn from this negative thought.

  • Identify and challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive and constructive ones.
