Rewrite Your ADHD Story - Jim Livingstone
Restart, Reset, Refocus

Hello, and Welcome
![]() | G’day, I struggled with undiagnosed ADHD for forty-six years, feeling like I didn't fit in anywhere. Since my ADHD diagnosis, I have spent the past twenty-six years reading, researching and testing every aspect of adult ADHD with the desire to become the very best version of myself. Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way…. |
REWRITE YOUR ADHD STORY
Throughout our lives, we create stories from our positive and negative experiences. These stories form our beliefs and identity.
Our ADHD brain’s number one obsession is our survival. Our belief system has been developed to protect us, but it also can prevent us from changing and progressing in our lives.
Your beliefs form the foundation of your life and to change the direction of your life, you have to change your beliefs, the stories you tell yourself and your identity.
All beliefs result from the meaning we give to an experience. Our perception of the event determines the subsequent belief and story we attach to it. However, two people who have the same experience can create different stories and beliefs.
What ADHD stories are you telling yourself? Positive ones that support you like, I can use my ADHD traits to succeed. Or negative ones like you have ADHD, and that is stopping you from reaching your goals and dreams?
Beliefs are not true or false, just a lens through which you view your life experiences. Nor are beliefs fixed; they can be changed. You are not a prisoner or victim of your beliefs unless you believe you are. If that is the case, then that is the first belief you need to change.
If you continue to fail to reach an important goal, like losing weight, you have to identify the false belief that stops you from believing you can. What were the experiences you went through and the stories you tell yourself that made you believe you can’t lose weight?
Next ask yourself this question: What new beliefs do I need to achieve this goal? What new stories and identity do I need to reach a point of really believing I can achieve this outcome?
Remember you are the greatest ADHD project you’ll ever work on.
The purpose is to break a false limiting belief and replace it with a new, empowering one. Restart, Reset, and Refocus as often as necessary.
What belief will make you unstoppable?
